It’s easy to lose our sense of belonging and feeling of connection with others in this fast-paced world. This loss of connection can make us feel empty about our lives… no matter how much wealth we achieve… no matter how many material things we accumulate. The best way to deal with this feeling of emptiness is to reconnect spiritually with yourself and with your family, friends and other loved ones as well as other people in the community.

Volunteering, acts of kindness and other forms of altruism can connect you to other people in your community; you can help yourself while you help others. When you are part of something so much bigger, you are less likely to feel so alone. Caring about other people, giving and sharing yourself with others allow you to connect with what is good about yourself… the very best part of yourself.

Next we’ll cover health and personal benefits of acts of kindness, volunteering and other forms of altruism.

  2. The Spiritual Growth and Development article was very interesting in that with all the social media networks and how it has made the world a smaller place it will never fill the soul. We need to feel connected to others and achieve a level of fulfillment. (A.K.A. purpose).

I wrote an article titled “It’s A Small World” to discuss the reward of having an online presences. Furthermore, how I was contacted by a childhood friend that came across my blog but once the excitement of speaking with him was over building and maintaining the relationship is where the rubber meets the road. Often time personal contact is needed to foster strong relationships.

The likes of Twitter, Facebook, and Youtube can help but the rest is up to us.

Thanks for sharing the article with us.
