You can start living your life to the fullest by training yourself to create or find happiness. Yes, you can make a habit of being happy. When you train yourself to create or find happiness, you can take advantage of new scientific findings in brain plasticity or neuroplasticity. Your brain changes when you make a habit of being happy. When you change your mind and your attitude, you can change your life – for the better.

Many people have a bad habit of making themselves miserable. They often create or encounter barriers that keep them from being happy. They get stuck searching for happiness in the wrong places. They keep going back to the same toxic people and experiences that offer the same rejection and pain. They keep trying to solve problems in the same old ways — somehow expecting different results.

Misery is only an option.

You can remove and overcome roadblocks to your happiness. You can untangle yourself from family dysfunction. You can untangle yourself from destructive relationships. You can find new paths and new solutions. If you’re willing to make an effort and take action, you can reclaim your life.

Some people are experts in finding happiness. Children usually know what makes them happy–they don’t bother over-analyzing their happiness. They just find simple pleasures in life — whether it comes from having a new toy or even playing with the box for one of their toys — they just enjoy whatever comes along. They do this so easily. Finding happiness is such a no-brainer for children.

Some senior citizens are also experts in finding happiness. Instead of knowing instinctively what can make them happy, they’ve found happiness by dealing with challenges in their lives and by overcoming difficulties. Others have found happiness by trial and error – they’ve learned from their experiences and ultimately figured out what makes them happy.

Some people always manage to find a way to be happy — to love and be loved…  to be “successful” in its purest form — no matter what actually happens to them. Catastrophic events in their lives don’t seem to cripple them and stop them permanently. They might pause a little bit to treat their wounds – they might even retreat from the world for sometime. But almost always, they manage to heal and recover emotionally from what was going on… they manage to move forward with their lives and be happy. What’s their secret?

What are the keys to finding happiness? I’m certain it’s not about luck, but a way of looking at the world — a certain attitude. People that are happy tend to be more emotionally intelligent than others — they tend to make choices that help them live their best life. In contrast, unhappy people tend to make choices that keep them stuck in misery. Even when they have happy moments, they seem to find a way to mess things up and keep them miserable.

There are so many people that are not happy… and they just don’t know how to find happiness. Most people don’t know how to savor simple pleasures in everyday life. Most people don’t know how to find true happiness that lasts.

Do you sometimes feel that you’re stuck in a miserable rut? Is there something in your life that is keeping you from being truly happy? The good news is that you can train yourself to be happy. You can make a habit of being happy and achieve a higher quality of life.

What’s the bad news? If you don’t start making some changes in your attitude, you will keep getting in your own way — you will continue to create and find misery for yourself.

If you want to reclaim your life and find true happiness, it’s crucial that you learn to empower yourself and develop a more positive attitude. You can get some insights that can help you take positive steps for a happier and more satisfying life.

Life is full of ups and downs — there are going to be good times and bad times. You can’t change the ups and downs of life, but you can change your attitude about them.

Changing your mindset about yourself and your situation can help you create and find happiness. No matter what your circumstances are, you can live your life to the fullest.

Why focus on Happiness, Happiness depends looking at the what is happening,
    I did or I didn’t do!
    I have or I don’t have!
    I make or I don’t make!
    I see or I don’t see!
    I give or I don’t give!
    I love or I don’t love!
It is just never enough in the place of happiness…

Why not focus on bliss, Bliss is independant of what happens
    it is like
I am happy without a reason
I am happy without a cause
I am happy as I am
    I am happy here
I am happy in this moment
I am happy without a response
I am happy with who i am
I am happy without my effort,
it is not because of what i did, or didn’t do
    it is effortless
it is like saying thank you for no reason

    Peace be with you,

I read your post. The confusing part here is that you sited examples about children and elders. Its easy to be happy as a child and its also easy to be happy as an elder no matter what your sickness is. What about people in their middle age who worry about paying the bills, rent, handling pressure, and whatsoever?

      Hi Brian,

      Thank you for your comments!

I do agree with you that it’s usually easy for a child to be happy. But, I strongly disagree that “it’s also easy to be happy as an elder no matter what your sickness is.” The reason for this is also the answer to your question.

This is what I wrote in the article…

“Some senior citizens are also experts in finding happiness. Instead of knowing instinctively what can make them happy, they’ve found happiness by dealing with challenges in their lives and by overcoming difficulties. Others have found happiness by trial and error -– they’ve learned from their experiences and ultimately figured out what makes them happy.”

Notice I mentioned SOME seniors not all of them. This is a very important point. Seniors who have learned to create and find happiness have learned from their experiences and have figured out what made them happy. They took their new knowledge and continued to apply it. They practiced and trained themselves to be happy — they made a habit of being happy!

Their choice to be happy can not be underestimated. I agree with you that “middle age (people) worry about paying the bills, rent, handling pressure, and whatsoever.” However, let’s not forget that seniors have to deal with the same problems. They’re also dealing with unemployment and financial problems related to the tough economy.

In addition to the economy-related problems and worries seniors are dealing with — such as, major cuts in state-provided senior services — they often have to deal with increasing health-related expenses which further decreases their fixed social security and retirement income.

There are seniors who do not successfully lead happy lives. The worse case scenario is that some seniors commit suicide.

The problems many seniors face are HUGE! In addition to financial and health problems, they also have decreasing social support. Many of their friends and relatives are sick or dying; so, some seniors feel more and more alone.

The fact that some senior citizens are experts in finding happiness is remarkable. Misery is only an option. They have chosen to be happy and made a habit of happiness. We can all apply this in our lives. Regardless of our circumstances, we can make choices that can help us lead happy lives.

      I hope that helps…

      Allie
