Sadly, most people fail to achieve their goals in spite of their good intentions. Why? They just don’t have enough time, money or energy to get what they really want.

In today’s society, most people are stressed out, time-starved and budget-challenged  –  millions of people have multiple roles and complicated lives.

Easy-ways.com is dedicated to giving busy individuals and families easy ways to live a happier, healthier and richer, more satisfying life.

This is my story…

I can hardly believe it. I’m happy and healthy! It has been a long and difficult journey, but I’m content with my accomplishments. I’m so grateful not only for what I have achieved… so far, but also for the things I have learned along the way.

It doesn’t mean that my life is perfect. If I only have to consider myself, I do have enough for my own financial needs. I have a good job that brings me a lot of personal satisfaction as well as a good income. The only reason why I’m working at home — to earn more money online — is to help my loved ones. It will take a lot of money to take my brother from the hospital and care for him at home.

My beloved brother, Ed, suffered a brain injury after hemorrhaging from a brain aneurysm; that’s why he is staying in a hospital at this time. Another brother is often unable to walk; he’s disabled due to gout. My mom recently just got diagnosed with breast cancer; I’m thankful that she has been doing well after her surgery. Of course, I want more free time to spend with my family and to help them.

I really want to bring Ed home someday soon. He has excellent nurses in the hospital — they’re absolutely wonderful! But, I want to be able to care for him at home and help him with his rehabilitation. It has been challenging because after he came out of his coma, he responds primarily to my voice. Understandably, hospital staff members often think he’s “non-responsive.” Thank goodness for video. I’ve been able to share my brother’s smile and his ability to follow my directions.

I am happy that Ed is still able to respond, but I am desperate to help him improve his quality of life. We used to talk a lot about life, love and everything that mattered most to us. His kindness and wise words have made such a huge difference in my life. He helped me become a better person.

I thought I would never be able to learn to deal with such an inconsolable loss. Ed was my rock  –  he was always there for me. He has always been supportive of me when I was going through trivial bad-hair days and bad relationship break-ups as well as mistakes I’ve made in my life. Now, it’s my turn to be there for him.

I am thankful that he has helped me become such a strong person. Now, I have become his rock!

I have one son who is a college student. His major is Environmental Engineering. I’m sooooo proud of him! Due to the tough economic times, it has been hard for him to find part-time work; so, we’re helping him finance his education. After he graduates, it’s very likely that he’s going to have a tough time finding a job. I feel so bad for millions of new graduates out there now — it’s a terrible time to be looking for a job.

As you can see, there are challenges in my life. But, it doesn’t mean that I’m sad or feeling hopeless. I’m optimistic and I’m focusing on the positive things in my life. I’m so grateful to have had such wonderful experiences and lessons in life. It’s such a privilege to love and learn from my family and friends.

As you can probably guess, I’m often very busy. That’s why I have a lot of appreciation for using shortcuts to accomplish things. Why should anyone waste any time, money and effort… when you can accomplish things — the easy way?

Time-saving, money-saving and energy-saving ideas are useful for so many people. One of the biggest problems that most individuals and families have is lack of time. Being time-starved can affect many aspects of your health and happiness. It can affect your stress level… it can affect your fitness level… it can even affect the quality of your relationships with family and friends.

Over the last 20 years, my work as a Registered Nurse has slowly shifted from working in hospitals — I’ve worked in Intensive Care Units and Medical-Surgical Units and I’ve also worked as Director of Nursing — to working in the community. I make housecalls and see patients at home who recently have had a stroke, heart attack and other diseases affecting their daily living. As a Case Manager, I do a lot of teaching and coaching to help people make changes and improve their health. My work allows me to make a difference in people’s lives. So, it gives me a lot of personal satisfaction.

NOTE: Privacy is extremely important to me. I will NEVER disclose any names or identifying information about patients, their families and friends as well as my family, friends, co-workers and acquaintances. I’ve decided to disclose my brother’s nickname, Ed, because I’m going to write about some of the life lessons he taught me. I’m forever grateful for learning emotional intelligence and self-empowerment as well as experiencing unconditional love from my brother. I would like to honor him by sharing his life lessons and passing his kindness along.

I’ve gotten to know thousands of patients, their families and friends during my housecalls to patients. What I’ve seen shocked me. So many people in the community have very complicated lives.

A lot of women have multiple roles as a wife, girlfriend or partner as well as mother, homemaker and entrepreneur. Some, are also caring for aging parents, sick or troubled relatives.

Many men are busy with their jobs and taking care of their families in addition to running their business.

Stay-at-home and work-at-home moms as well as professional, executive and entrepreneur moms are usually dealing with a lot of stress due to lack of time and/or money as well as being loaded with so many responsibilities.

Single or divorced moms and dads have an even tougher situation when they do not have a very supportive partner, ex-husband or ex-wife — they often have to deal with family issues alone, in addition to their work or business.

Just like most of you, I have also dealt with time management and budget-related issues. My life has also been complicated. Several years ago, I went back to school; I got my Master’s degree in Biological Chemistry. It was tough because in addition to graduate work, I was also working part-time and caring for my son (I’m a single/divorced mom). After a terrible first quarter, I did manage to earn mostly A in graduate school. However, I didn’t finish my PhD. At this time, I don’t know if I’ll go back to grad school just to get my PhD. My family needs me and I’m happy just applying the things I’ve learned.

Even as an undergraduate student, I was very busy. I got my Bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Chemistry after I finished an Accelerated Program in Registered Nursing. I was going to school full-time and working part-time to support myself and my (now ex-) husband (he was a law student and is now a partner in a law firm). Of course, things got even busier when I became a mom.

My life is less stressful these days, but it’s still more complicated than I would like. In addition to writing, blogging and marketing online, I still see patients a couple of days a week. I provide long-distance caregiving for my mom and my disabled brothers in Southern California. My mom doesn’t want to move to the San Francisco Bay Area, in Northern California (where I live); so, I’ve been traveling often to see her and my brothers.

Just like most of you, I have multiple roles and a complicated life. There are things that I can not change  –  for example, health issues of my loved ones  –  and I have learned to accept them. For the most part, I have made changes on the things that I could change and I have made my life a lot easier.

What has been most surprising to me is that I have managed to simplify my life. I used to be a workaholic working six to seven days a week, but now I see patients 2-3 days a week, at most. I still consider myself a recovering workaholic; so, I’m careful that I don’t slip up and work too much again. These days, I really value having some free time to do the things that make me happy and make a difference in someone’s life.

I’ve learned to focus on things that really matter. On most days, I do my best and just ditch the rest. I’ve learned to make time for myself and manage my stress. It’s a struggle some times, but I make it a point to spend quality time with my family and friends. I’m happy and healthy… in spite of all the things I have to do.

I hope Easy-Ways.com can help you find useful tips, tools and secret shortcuts that can make your life easier. I hope it can help you save more time, money and energy. So, you can use whatever you save… on yourself, your loved ones and things that matter most to you.

Are you living your life to the fullest? I wish you and your loved ones a happier, healthier and richer, more satisfying life. :-)

Sincerely,
Allie Mendoza

  1. Hi Cassy!

What a pleasant surprise to get a comment from you in my blog! Thank you for your kind words. You know that I think you’re wonderful — not just as a writer, but the way you carry yourself as a person.

No apologies are needed. I really appreciate you taking the time to visit this blog. I feel bad that I haven’t been doing a lot on hubpages, but I’m too focused at this time on finishing work-related deadlines and trying to get some online marketing stuff before I go on my trip next week. I’ll do better as your fan once my schedule is less crazy.

My Mom and brother are okay, but I’m going to Los Angeles just to check what’s going on. I’m hoping to convince my Mom to move to the San Francisco Bay Area, which is about 6 hours north of LA. She has refused for many years, but I’m hoping to be able to do it this time. I might move to LA, but I’m concerned that I would get too exhausted dealing with a new job and crazy LA traffic to be of much help for anyone.

Thank you for sharing some keyword tips in your hub comments. I agree that it’s extremely important. I’ve been doing SEO and web development since the late 90s, but I’ve learned advanced keyword research this last few months. I actually thought my knowledge was intermediate level, but I was blown away by the new things I learned.

I’m glad you’re visiting me here because I can share some links with you. It’s a bummer that it’s against hubpages’ TOS to do so. Please check out these links when you have time (I can’t set it to open a new window; so, please right click.):

I’m testing some cost-per-action (CPA) offers. They can be a lot more lucrative than adsense. CPA can offer $40 or more per action (not sale or click). If you want to check it out, here’s the link:
